I saw a live review on 'Drowned in Sound' that intrigued me back in 2006, and then saw them early in 2007 supporting 'Noisettes' in Oxford. I was instantly hooked, bought the album from the band, and have seen them loads since. My favourite live discovery of 2007. Also the first live band that my kids have seen (at the 'all ages' artrocker gig at the Roundhouse in London in May. I'm looking forward to more gigts in 2008...

Good thread!
I first saw them supporting someone I can't remember at the 100 Club on Oxford St. I was there to see Scanners who I love but VEGC just stole my heart in a flash. Think this was mid 2005 but I'm not sure.

for me it was completely by chance - had decided at the last minute to see the Wedding Present at Leeds University on 6th June 06 (6-6-6 - scary or what??). Was happily minding my own business in the student bar enjoying a pint when this glorious sound came drifting through from the stage. From that moment on I was hooked. Weird thing was that it was in exactly the same room as when I had first seen the Wedding Present some 18 years earlier. Seen VEGC 19 times now.....

i saw them supporting future of the left (another great band!) at a legendary music club in hull called the adelphi that pretty much looks like a crackden inside and out. Ended up talking to the band in the back room after the gig as well which was pretty cool

First saw the vegc at barfly in cardiff, in my first year of uni. In 2004/05, sometime just before/after christmas.
I really liked the offbeat quirkyness that was tales of hermit mark and have been a fan every since!

My husband played them for me in late 2006 (where he found them, I have no idea, probably at the suggestion of some British internet friend) and I was so enchanted I invited them to stay with us during South By Southwest. Surprisingly, they did, so I got to see them live 3 times while they were here. I've never met nicer people, though I suspect Adam killed my cat.

The first album was well displayed in my usual record shop and it was possible to listen to it. Then I heard Louise's bass, Emma's drums and Adam's guitar and I thought This is really good. Then I heard the voices and stopped listening and bought the album.

I also went to that Zodiac gig. It was worth coming from London to see both bands played great sets and Major Mc?Whatever his name was he was great fun.

Saw them at Bar Academy Islington, and loved them.. went on to follow them around London to places like The Buffalo Bar and King's Cross Water Rats. Never been disappointed.
